Hi, this is how I would paint the scales Two layers: Top for black shape for in between scales Under that general silouhette of the form that will have scales. Having that I add new layer and clip it on top of my shape layer, I paint the light and hue shift on the layer to sgow general form change, you can go as detailed as you like, the main goal is not to be constrained to painting one by one. Having that, I will add detail and more form on separate layer not clipped to anything. In general while painting don't look on patterns as separate objects, try to find the way how to simplyfy the pattern to somthing simpler using tools at your disposal Hope that notes will give you some ideas to move the painting further, keep up the good work. | Artwod Feedback
