Hey there Jam, I had a try at your drawing, I hope this helps First thing I'll say is that since I did this digitaly, there might be some effects dificult to achieve with a pencil, especially on the hair. Main thing going off in your drawing is the form of the cranium being to small, feels like the character is missing the back of his skull. Even if you are trying to make a mostly line drawing, you want to make sure the values are properly distributed and working. If you want to shade the hair, you need to establish a value structure and make sure that you can go lighter or brighter, therefore I would recomend drawing strand by strand, try not to draw each hair. go for a block of value instead and the break it into smaller shapes add more values, then you can go in and throw smaller details.
