I always try to chose a light source first. Pick a direction arrow. Then use that as a perspective guideline for your cast shadows.(The nes that the cups cast onto the table) As far as the hatching goes, keep it as simple as you can and try to follow the contour of the item you are hatching. Follow the cup in full straight lines. I like to start in the middle and work away from the light arrow, these lines will get closer together as you move further away from the light source. And then come back and add a few going towards the light,these will get further apart and start to become broken to mimic the light hitting the object. Try to slow down a bit and put down nice controlled lines. Simplify and the key is to follow the contour of what you are shading. The cup tapers from top to bottom, so your hatch lines should as well. | Artwod Feedback
