Overall you have a good base. To create the depth you are looking for think contrast. The closer the items are the gauge they will be. Notice in the reference image how the mountains and trees almost merge together. Same goes for the distance, the mountains and sky need to almost merge together. Darkening the foreground and lightening and unsaturating items in the distance will be something you can experiment with. I’d stay away from pure whites and pure blacks. Even snow has a color to it.
